Dr. Simon completed his General Psychiatry residency at LSU/Ochsner in Post Katrina New Orleans where he was one of few psychiatrists who remained in the city at a time when psychiatric care was among the most needed specialties.
His training encompassed serving children and adults with chronic and acute issues such as depressive and anxiety disorders, ADHD, substance abuse, and PTSD, as well as other crisis management issues.
These experiences in New Orleans lead him to commit to further training in the nationally recognized shortage sub specialties of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine and Psychiatry.
He completed a Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Mt. Sinai Medical Center and UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center, and then a Fellowship in Addiction Medicine and Psychiatry at Dartmouth Medical Center.
This comprehensive training has uniquely prepared him to meet the complex needs of the population, particularly children and their families.
